I have completely removed the airbox and
side covers. I'm using a 4 inch POD uni foam air
filter connected directly to the carb with a hose
clamp. I also have a tuned harley pipe and
rejetted to 160 main jet. Also no white spacer.
You wouldn't believe the increase in power unless
you've done this before!! The bike's stock
comfortable cruising speed was around 50-60 mph-
where the engine didn't feel like it was working
hard at all. Now I look down at the speedometer
and I can't believe I'm CRUISING at 75 mph!!!
NO EXAGGERATION!! The bike runs GREAT!! Idles very
nice and low and no backfire at all. I'm also
thinking about drilling the carb and screwing in
a bolt to lift the slide up for better low end
throttle response. I did this on my 350 cc yamaha
and it pops wheelies!! I may also cut .005 or so
off the needle. My bike smokes sportsters!! Do it
Hal! Remove the spacer and air box, add straight
pipe with some backpressure, and rejet 160 main jet.
Your bike will run much much better!
